Littlehampton’s Raydar needs your support to survive

Disability charity Raydar needs “urgent” support from people and businesses in the town after volunteers from the organisation announced it only had months to raise £3,000 to pay for another year at its headquarters, in Evans Garden.

Earlier this year the good cause was instrumental in helping to support flooding victims in Littlehampton and Felpham. Now Raydar’s co-chairman Helen McCondach is hoping that the community will rally in its time of need.

“It will be a massive step backwards for us, if we lost this site,” she said.

“Before, we were a small organisation, running out of a pub. Now we have dozens of people, who regularly use our support sessions.

“If we don’t keep this site, many of those families we support would be left stranded. We would go back to one day a week, instead of seven.

“Without Littlehampton’s help, it could mean the end of Raydar, which would be a disaster.”

The group provides advice and support for families of disabled children and young people in the Littlehampton area.

Staci Quinn, of Way Out There and Back, also in Evans Garden, has played a key role in helping to support the organisation.

She said: “Raydar is a grass-roots local charity which steps in to deal with issues that other people may not have understanding of or time for.

“Littlehampton’s greater future lays in the cohesion of all our community and younger generations, only by working together can we make our local community a warmer and kinder place to live in.”
