New barbecue restaurant coming to Eastbourne shopping centre

Frys American BBQ, a new venture from company director Chris Fry, ‘brings a taste of the USA to the UK with our authentic smoking and barbecuing techniques’ according to its Facebook page.

Chris said he hopes to open more sites ‘across Sussex and beyond’.

The restaurant is planning to open May 17 in line with the government’s road map out of lockdown. This date is when indoor hospitality is allowed to resume.

Chris said he chose the Langney site because people don’t need to worry about parking in town.

He said, “I spoke to Neil Avis, the manager of Langney Shopping Centre, who was very welcoming and enthusiastic about our proposed project.

“Langney, and everywhere within two miles, is such an underserved area and I feel people deserve a decent option that serves delicious food at a reasonable price.

“It’s somewhere to go with the family that’s warm and welcoming and not have to worry about the parking or driving miles to get home so they can just relax and enjoy quality time together.”

Chris said the restaurant has barbecue options for both meat eaters and vegetarians including pulled pork shoulder, ribs and ‘an amazing jackfruit recipe’.

Ahead of opening, Chris said he’s ‘incredibly excited’ for what’s to come.

He said, “I am very much looking forward to developing relationships with my customers, the centre, local authorities, other local businesses and staff, and working with them to expand the menu and business in a way that serves the community.

“As my first business, I am excited to see it succeed and develop it into more than just a single location as well as the happiness I know it will bring locally, I’ve never felt so excited.”

Frys American BBQ has launched a Facebook group called ‘Taste Tasters’ where customers can fill in a survey after their meal and ‘huge discounts’ will be given out in return.
