Land south of Rattle Road is the proposed site for five new homes to be built, according to documents submitted to Wealden District Council.

The design and access statement reveals the plans for one two-bed, two three-bed and two four-bed houses – all two storey.

The site, at The Haycroft, which sits between Stone Cross and Westham, is part of a wider space recently promoted and approved for residential development, the plans say.

At the moment, plans say the space is ‘overgrown and abandoned’ with a collection of derelict farming buildings. If work is approved, the farm buildings will be demolished and five new homes will be built with gardens and car parking.

According to the plans, the layout of the development has been ‘carefully designed to respect the surrounding context’ and the houses will sit behind the existing hedgerow and ‘blend seamlessly’ with the other surrounding developments.

Plans says it will ‘make a valuable contribution to the shortfall in housing numbers in the district’.

Members of the public can comment on the plans until April 2.
