Blown Away, owned by Jackie and Ian Dummer and supported by Liana Nash, held an opening event at 10am on Saturday in the North Street site previously used as a post office/tuck shop.

Jackie said: “It’s a new venture. The shop has been empty since May but we thought we’d wait until Christmas before doing something with it.

“Liana Nash is responsible for many of our personalised creations and balloon designs.

“The opening went really well. The children had their faces painted and got their party bags and they brought their parents too which is what we wanted.”

The opening event had a good turn out but Jackie said the store, like the majority of businesses, has been quiet this week due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shoppers are being urged to visit Blown Away’s online store, which offers free delivery to all GU29 postcodes with orders over £20.

Jackie said the online service was already planned but has ‘become much more needed’.

The shop’s Facebook page said it will provide balloons and gifts for ‘every party and occasion’.

It added: “From children’s parties to weddings and large events we cater for all with our wide range of balloons, party wear and accessories.

“Designed and created to your specification, our balloon bouquets and arrangements offer the perfect decoration for any venue, perfectly matched with our array of party decorations, props and accessories.”
