Network Rail engineers were called in at 4.30pm to fix the 'heat warped' tracks, and the problem was resolved at 5.15am this morning (June 21).

The issue caused problems for commuters last night, as services from London to Brighton were unable to run through Preston Park.

Replacement buses were in operation between Haywards Heath and Brighton, and some services were diverted to Lewes.
