Bay View Park Ltd, which owns Bay View Holiday Park (BVHP) in Martello Rd, Pevensey Bay, has put forward the plans to Wealden District Council (WDC) and Eastbourne Borough Council to build on the northern section of the land, which falls under WDC’s constituency.

In a design and access statement submitted to planning officials, the company said the plans would bring the total number of static caravans in the northern section of the park to 91.

A Bay View Park Ltd spokesperson said in the statement, “The planning application has been made very much as an investment by the owners of BVHP to improve the overall quality of holiday accommodation on offer, and to address the continued demand for this type of static holiday caravan accommodation.”

Some of the plan’s benefits, according to the company, would be a ‘more orderly layout’ at the park and it would also provide a ‘more reliable’ income for the business.

The spokesperson said in the statement, “A major planning benefit of this planning application is the reduction in caravan numbers on the park, representing a less intense use of the land and a more orderly layout of units compared to the current random appearance of touring caravans.”

The company also said the development ‘does not seek’ to extend beyond the site’s ‘permitted boundaries’.
