A post on the water utility company's website said the damaged main is at Beech Road Junction, Marine Drive.

It added: "Whilst the initial incident would have resulted in parts of Selsey experiencing lower water pressure, our technicians have re-valved the area reducing the number of properties affected. However, there may still be a low number of customers within the area still without water to allow us to effect a repair.

"A repair team has been mobilized and we would expect normal service to resume later today.
