Southwater engineer wins his way through to final of top trade contest

A heating engineer’s passion for his job has led him through to the finals of a top trade competition.

Ian Dickson, 32, from Southwater, could now be in line for the prestige title of Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2020 - and a £20,000 trade bundle.

Ian, who runs Dickson’s Heating Engineers, was singled out from 2,500 entrants for his ‘sheer passion for the trade, determination to succeed and demonstrating how he goes above and beyond the call of duty for customers.’

Ian says he’s thrilled to have reached the final stage. He says: “I founded Dickson’s Heating Engineers Ltd nine years ago and I have never looked back.

“As heating engineers are considered key workers, I’ve had to adapt how I serve my customers during the current pandemic.

“My aim is to always keep my customers safe and happy when I am working in their homes.”

Screwfix customer and digital director Simon Jacksonsaid: “We recognise the importance of supporting our tradespeople, and now, more than ever, we want to reward them for their hard work in keeping their communities and customers safe in their homes.

The finalists will take part in a two-day event co-hosted with Google before the winner is announced at Screwfix LIVE on Friday October 2.
