Station Garage based in Ewhurst will be relocating and hopes to be trading by September, early October.

“This relocation is key for Station Garage, as we have for some time outgrown the Ewhurst site and it is essential that we move and expand in order to take advantage of the increasing success of ŠKODA nationally,” said James Thorpe who manages the family firm founded by his father Tony Thorpe in 1973 in Rudgwick.

“We had been contemplating a move to Horsham for some time, and fortuitously the Broadbridge Heath site came up, which means that we do not need to move too far to expand. We are very excited about the next phase of Station Garage.”

While the move is positive news for Horsham’s local economy - Station Garage is actively looking for staff - the loss of the garage to the small community of Ewhurst will be hard felt.

UKIP Ewhurst councillor UKIP, Diane James told the County Times: “There has been rumour for sometime that the business might be moving and releasing the site for housing development.

“Everyone will be sorry to see the garage business leave the village. There will also be serious concerns as to what happens to the site with the previous Rudgwick change of use to housing development signalling what might be on the cards.”
