As part of the Angmering Community Network, Angmering Twinning Association was asked to organise an event to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. We decided to hold a Wartime Tea party in Angmering Village Hall on Saturday 10 May from 5-7pm (the nearest available date to the anniversary). This is an opportunity for old and young to come together, share stories and artefacts with those who study World War Two in our village schools and taste some wartime tea time recipes.

But, most importantly, we did not want this to be just a one off event. 80 years on we wanted to do something longer lasting, so we began to collect wartime memories from people now living in Angmering.

We have been amazed at the stories related to us by ordinary people: some sad, some amusing, a number of miraculous escapes and other tales of everyday life in wartime.

These we have published in a booklet which will be on sale at the tea.

We have had a great deal of support from many people in the Village, and from Angmering Parish Council, all of whom we would like to thank.
