BALCOMBE WI meet on Thursday, September 5 at 2pm in the Victory Hall. There will be a talk on Nicaragua.

BALCOMBE CLUB EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING has been called to discuss the way forward for the club that has struggled in recent months due to low usage.

Please attend and bring your ideas and proposals to help secure the future of the Club. It takes place on Thursday, September 5 at 7.30pm in the Victory Hall.

BABY & TODDLER GROUP - Balcombe Baby & Toddler Group runs every Thursday during term time between 9.30 and 11.30am in the Parish Room.

This is a wonderful opportunity for children to play with their peers in both indoor and outdoor environments. Have a drink, a well-earned biscuit and a chat, all for just £3.

BALCOMBE GARDENERS’ ASSOCIATION Autumn Show is on Saturday, September 7 in the Victory Hall from 2.30om to 4pm, costing just £1 to enter, children free.

This is a relaxed and sociable event where you can appreciate the joy of flowers and wonder at the fantastic vegetables and cookery on show.

Do see if you can enter anything (the more entries the better the show). Show entry forms should go to the Show Secretary by email [email protected] There are top notch cakes and refreshments on offer too.

The following day, on Sunday, September 8, there will be a produce sale in the Victory Hall Car Park from 11am to 12 noon, an excellent opportunity to buy home-grown and possibly award-winning local produce.

APPLE PRESSING - the Balcombe Gardeners’ Association invite any villagers to come along to the Recreation Ground on Sunday, September 22 between 10am and 12 noon to press their apples. Don’t forget containers for the juice.

BALCOMBE CRICKET CLUB - The final league game takes place on Saturday, September 7. This will be followed with an end of season awards evening down at the ground. This will include the junior section, and games are being scheduled to involve juniors and their parents.

There will be a BBQ on the night. All members, parents and friends are very welcome to join the celebrations.

BALCOMBE HISTORY SOCIETY start back after the summer recess with a talk on the power of art. Valerie Woodgate is the speaker on Wednesday, September 11. She is a retired Tate Britain and Modern lecturer and guide, and she will pose the question: 'Can Art Change the World?'

Date, time and venue Wednesday, September 11 at 6.30pm for 7pm in the Victory Hall.

CRAFTS, GIFTS & LOCAL PRODUCE MARKET is on Saturday, September14 from 10am until 2pm in the Victory Hall. The Balcombe Rifle Club will be providing the cakes and refreshments.

BALCOMBE BOWLS CLUB - On Tuesday, August 27 an additional fixture was scheduled at a club near Hailsham, the results were Hellingly 82, Balcombe 41. Saturday, August 31 was a free day and the results on Sunday, September 1 were Isle of Thorns 64, Balcombe 50.

ST. MARY’S CHURCH SERVICES – Sunday, September 8, 8am Holy Communion, 9.30am Parish Eucharist with Father David

Every Monday morning during term time in St Mary’s Church, they will be serving free coffee, tea and pastries between 9.30 and 11am. All are welcome, whether after school drop off, before a dog walk, or if you just fancy a sociable start to your week.
