The Sylvia Beaufoy Centre: Supporting Young People and Building Futures
Nestled in the heart of Petworth, the Sylvia Beaufoy Centre is a thriving hub dedicated to empowering young people, fostering their skills, and providing opportunities for growth and adventure. With an impressive variety of sessions on offer, the Centre continues to make a lasting impact in our community.

Hide AdAt the core of our work are social sessions, where young people can relax, connect with friends, and engage in fun activities like arts and crafts, sports competitions, and music. These sessions also provide a safe space to discuss current global issues and topics affecting young people today.
For budding chefs, our Youth Café teaches valuable cooking skills, encouraging independence and creativity as young people prepare delicious meals from scratch.
One of our standout programme is the Greenpower racing team, where 45 young people design, build, and race electric cars in the prestigious Greenpower series. This project not only fosters STEM skills but also teaches unique abilities, such as working with corporate sponsors and handling media interviews. Our Goblin car for younger participants and four F24 cars—alongside an F24+ car for older youth—ensure there's something for everyone.
We are also proud to offer the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, where participants build resilience and teamwork through volunteering, physical activities, and expeditions. Starting this September, young people in school year 9 and above can sign up for Bronze, while those in year 10 and above can join Silver via our website: www.sylviabeaufoy.org.

We also organize exciting residential trips, like this summer's action-packed visit to the Isle of Purbeck.
As a registered charity, the Sylvia Beaufoy Centre relies entirely on grant funding and the generosity of donors to continue its work. We receive no government funding for day-to-day operations, which means every donation makes a difference in helping us support young people in our community.
