Haywards Heath Town Council announces second annual Community Awards

The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, 9th March 2024, where the remarkable achievements of our local community heroes will be celebrated.

Eligibility and Nomination Process

To ensure inclusivity, there are five award categories open for nominations. Both individuals and businesses from all sections of our community who have made a visible difference to our town are eligible. Nominees must generally be over 18 years of age, with specific criteria outlined for each award. The awards are intended for unpaid service, with the exception of the Business Award.

Nominations can be made by any person or business with links to Haywards Heath, provided they are not related to the nominee. Nominations can be submitted online via the Town Council website or by paper copy available from The Town Hall. Nominees may only be nominated for one category and cannot be made posthumously. Serving Haywards Heath Town Councillors are ineligible for nomination.

The nomination period will close at 5pm on Monday 3rd February, with the winners contacted in due course.

Award Categories

Mayor’s Award: Chosen by the Mayor, this award recognises a person of any age who has made a significant contribution to the town and local community. Business Award - Community Involvement: This award honours businesses that have gone the extra mile to support and be involved with the local commun ity, enhancing community life and making a positive contribution. The business must be located in Haywards Heath. Outstanding Young Person Award: For individuals under the age of 18 who have made an outstanding contribution to their local community.Outstanding Adult Award: For adults over the age of 18 who have made a significant contribution or service to their local community, either through a single act or cumulative efforts over time. Sports Person of the Year, in association with Active Haywards Heath: This award recognises individuals who have excelled in sports, leisure, fitness, and activity, either through personal achievements or by helping others achieve their goals. Volunteer of the Year Award, in association with Community People: This award is for individuals who have completed or are undertaking voluntary roles that benefit the community of Haywards Heath.
