Moving Mozart concert in Battle

The audience were moved, some to tears, by the poignancy of Mozart’s Requiem and loved the gentle Schubert mass.
The soloists (soprano, Yvonne Lloyd, alto,Deirdre Arratoon, tenor, Gary Marriott, bass, Peter Grevatt) were sublime and the added depths of the music ably supplied by cellist Anita Strevens, Trumpeters Andy and Evan Gill, Percussionist Pete Beaumont, Organist Nigel Howard and pianist Duncan Reid.

Hide AdThe choir gave an emotional performance to the 120 plus audience who commented that they were so moved by the performance, one describing it as powerful.


Many said that they were planning to join Battle Choral Society again, for the Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 14.
This concert will include a much less known ‘Christmas Night’ piece by a Baroque composer, Charpentier in the first half – followed by Christmas carols performed by the choir, soloists and some with audience participation.
Keep that date free for a memorable evening at St Mary’s Church in Battle.Admission is free with refreshments (donations only) with special hampers as raffle prizes with modest ticket prices.
