Those who attended the concert given by Battle Choral Society at St Mary’s Church, Battle, on October 26 were treated to wonderful performances of Mozart’s Requiem and Schubert’s Mass in G, under the baton of musical director Vince Wade.

The audience were moved, some to tears, by the poignancy of Mozart’s Requiem and loved the gentle Schubert mass.

The soloists (soprano, Yvonne Lloyd, alto,Deirdre Arratoon, tenor, Gary Marriott, bass, Peter Grevatt) were sublime and the added depths of the music ably supplied by cellist Anita Strevens, Trumpeters Andy and Evan Gill, Percussionist Pete Beaumont, Organist Nigel Howard and pianist Duncan Reid.
