At Christ’s Hospital, a boarding and day school near Horsham, nearly 70 per cent of all grades were A* - B. The average number of UCAS points score per A-level pupil was just over 310.

Outstanding performances include a place at Oxford for the leaving head boy, Ben Eastwood (A* A* A B) to read Chemistry, and places at Cambridge for Alice Greenwood, Olivia Bowman, and Francis Scarr (all of whom gained straight A/A* grades). Especially strong performances were achieved by Fred Reckless with four A* grades and outstandingly, by Luke Stevens. Luke won The National Chemistry prize last year, awarded at the Royal Society and he has also won a place at Cambridge with no fewer than five A* grades at A-level.

Excellent performances by the IB scholars included six who scored over forty points.

Among these Lola Seaton-Picardie and Michelle Bolarin are going to Cambridge and Oxford respectively, while Marie-Luise Lotz and Ann-Christine Schwegmann are returning to university in their native Germany.

Art is a major strength at Christ’s Hospital with the rigorous Cambridge Pre-U qualification in Art. Nine pupils gained Distinctions in this exam.

Music is also a great strength of the school and both Milo McKinnon and Elliot Corner will further pursue their love of music by taking up scholarships at Trinity Laban School of Music and the Royal College of Music respectively.

John Franklin, head master, said: “There were 128 candidates in the Upper Sixth this year and there have been excellent performances across all subjects. The pupils should be very proud of their achievements.

“The education provided at Christ’s Hospital prepares pupils for life and these results will set them on course to the university of their choice and successful careers in the future.”
