A-Levels: Headteacher's delight at Newman results

The result for the college - which is the Sixth Form of Cardinal Newman Catholic School - was a 3 per cent increase on last year.

Some 73 per cent of students received A*-C grades and more than 50 per cent of all entries were A*-B grades which was, once again, an increase of 3 per cent from the previous year.

The college offered congratulations to Gus Hyland, Eoin Simpkins and Nathan McGregor who received three A* grades.

Congratulations also to Harrie Smith and Alfie Crowley Rata who received two A*s and two As; Sheherezade Scott and Anya Smith who received two A*s and an A; Archie Keys, Isabelle Waters and Sophia Billan who received A*, A, A and Brian Lapina who received two A*s.

Headteacher Dr James Kilmartin was delighted with the results.

He said: "The students are a credit to themselves, their families and the school.

"They have worked hard to achieve these results and I know that they will want to join me in thanking their teachers for the support and advice which has made a big contribution to their success.

"We are proud of each and every one of our students.

"As our Sixth Form continues to expand, we look forward to similar success in years to come. We wish our students the very best for the future, which for many of them will include taking up places at some of the country’s best universities while others will be embarking on apprenticeships and other high quality routes directly into the world of work."
