The secondary school was closed on Thursday (November 19) and today (Friday, November 20) for a deep clean after a number of Covid-19 cases were reported in the past few days.

Parents were informed of the closure on Wednesday and told an update would be issued on Friday.

Today, Bexhill Academy provided an update to parents, and said: “Due to a significant proportion of staff isolating we are unable to immediately reopen the academy for all year groups.

“Our students’ education is a priority. Therefore, we are minimising the impact on education by placing a temporary rota system for students who access learning from home, via the Google platform.

“All students who are completing their learning at home need to remain at home and should not be outside the community or turning up at the school gates for obvious safety reasons.”

From Monday (November 23), all year groups except year nine will be returning to school. Year nine students will be at home.

Year 11 students will be expected in school each week up to the Christmas holidays.

The school’s deep clean is expected to be completed on Sunday (November 22).
