Chichester A Level results: Chichester College students celebrate results

The college has recorded a 99 per cent pass rate for A-levels, according to figures just released for 2020.

Vittoria Hambleton, 18, received an A, A* and D. She said: "I'm very happy. I woke up this morning with loads of text messages from my friends saying 'oh, I didn't get in to university or I've not got the grades I wanted' but this is beyter than I was expecting so I'm very happy.

"I was expecting to come in with a D and two Bs and so getting an A* and an A I'm very over the moon with."

Deividas Vaitulevicius, 18, said: "I'm really happy today. I got a triple D* from biomedical science at Chichester College. Really good vibes. I'm loving it now.

"I'm going to start at Portsmouth University from September and I will be doing biomedical science again for the next four years so I'm hoping that is going to go well aswell.

"I was really nervous today. I did not expect that was actually going to happen.

"It has been quite hard and really hard to focus at home. It was much easier here in the college but I am happy that I did the best that I could."

An impressive 20 out of 25 A-level subjects recorded 100 per cent pass rates.

Helen Loftus, interim principal at Chichester College, said: “We are incredibly proud of all our students, who have worked hard to achieve their grades.

“This year has been highly unusual, and I think it’s important to recognise the effort and determination they have shown to their studies.

“We should also acknowledge the dedication shown by their lecturers during exceptionally difficult circumstances. They have gone above and beyond to support their students, the vast majority of whom will be able to progress to the next stage of their educational journey with confidence.

“We are also supporting students whose grades may have been slightly lower than expected. Our focus is always on helping young people to find the best way forward for them – this year is no exception. If anything, the extraordinary circumstances of the last few months make that approach all the more important.

“We also have to consider that, given the unique nature of this year’s assessment process and following the Government’s announcement on Tuesday night regarding mock results, our pass rates should be considered provisional and we could see an increase following any recalculations.”

Worthing College – who, alongside Chichester, Crawley and Brinsbury Colleges, are part of the Chichester College Group – has also achieved a 99 per cent pass rate A-level results for 2020.
