Some teachers donned school uniforms and fake mustaches while performing in the 1983 classic rock remake.

Lucy Noakes who created the ‘I want to break free’ video said: she want to make the staff and students laugh.

She said: "For many years now, I have been making ‘celebration’ videos for Christmas, the end of the school year, and most importantly, a ‘farewell’ to Year 11 film featuring most members of the staff. Sadly, we were unable to do this year due to Covid-19.

"In a time of national emergency, and continually horrible news, I wanted to bring a little bit of joy to the CHS community. Last week, I messaged our English WhatsApp group to see who would be interested in making an appropriately-themed music video for the school’s Facebook page.

"We settled on Queen’s brilliant ‘I Want to Break Free’, thanks to Mrs Wright’s suggestion, very quickly. I assigned everyone lines to ‘sing’ and perform, and asked them to film their clips and send them to me so that I could put the video together and lip-sync it.

"Children and pets were allowed to join in! I aimed to include some ‘nods’ to the original video as it is so iconic with the intention of making it as amusing as possible."

Head of English, Andrea Hodson said: "We have been insistent as a staff at CHS that we keep in touch with the students and their parents at this unsettling time. Facebook messages are posted daily from all walks of the CHS community - both teaching and non-teaching.

"When Lucy Noakes put out a message via our English Faculty WhatsApp group, the challenge was instantly accepted. A novel chance to engage with our students? Yes please.

"As soon as the song was decided upon then we each tasked family members to film us performing our parts. We all submitted our clips to Lucy for editing - she's great at it. The final result was overwhelming.

"We had over 2,500 views within 24 hours! We had lots of 'likes' and comments from students and parents, past and present. What remains now is for us to come up with our next challenge... Thinking caps on team!"
