Davison girls receive Diana Award

Four Youth University leaders at Davison CE High School for Girls have been honoured with the prestigious Diana Award.

Melanie Edwards, Sarah Roberts, Kayleigh Saunders and Maiya Wright-McQueen received the award at Barclays HQ in London.

Over the past two years, they have each spent more than 100 hours helping, encouraging and supporting young children on enrichment courses run at the Worthing school.

Emily Quinn, the manager of YU, said: “Their tireless volunteering has been essential to running courses at YU.

“From helping to chop and stir in Masterchef to blowing things up in Investigators, our leaders show confidence, care and charisma in all the assistance they give our young children at YU.

“Without the support of our leaders, Youth University could not run inspiring courses for the young children of Worthing.”

Since 1999, more than 47,000 young people have been recognised with a Diana Award for making an outstanding difference in their communities across the globe and continuing Princess Diana’s legacy.

The award aims to inspire and recognise social action in young people through youth-led initiatives that empower them to achieve their potential and make a difference.
