“At The Eastbourne Academy we have together, staff, students, parents and carers, created an environment where we hope everyone feels welcomed and valued and where individual talents are nurtured.

“We form friendships that last a lifetime and share experiences that develop our character and build our resilience.

“We learn to engage with each other, with ourselves, with topical issues and importantly with our learning”

It comes after secondary school pupils in England were allowed back this week, following months of lockdown.

However, due to social distancing guidelines, it is estimated only a quarter of pupils can be in school at a time.

From Monday (June 15), the Department for Education said secondary schools, sixth form, and further education colleges could begin offering some face-to-face support to year 10 and 12 pupils to supplement their remote education, which should remain their predominant mode of education during this term.

From June 1, children were allowed to return to nursery, reception, Year 1 and Year 6.
