For Owen, 16, from Oldacre Road, Newick was studying for his GCSEs whilst directing rehearsals for Newick Youth Theatre’s latest production, Fantastic Mr Fox. Owen also acts the part of a farmer in the play, so juggling his theatrical commitments with his studies has been quite a tricky business.

Owen, aged 16, had a break in rehearsals for his GCSE exams and found out today (Thursday) that he had been awarded four A* grades, six A grades and a B.

He learned of his results second hand.

“We decided it would be fun to open each other’s results, so I found out about mine from a friend,” said Owen. “It was incredible!”

The young director attends Uckfield Community Technology College and hopes to go on to do either History and Politics at university or to become a professional chef.

“I’m not sure which way to go at the moment,” he said. “I love acting and I’ve really enjoyed directing but it’s not something I really want to do as a career.”

Fantastic Mr Fox is being performed at Wowo campsite at Sheffield Park on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 at 3pm. Bring a picnic and enjoy the free, family show. To book spaces call Alex Harrison on: 01825 722468.
