Stephen Castle, an English teacher at the college, said: “I lead the college’s creative writing club which runs during lunchtimes and is open to all students.

“From this group, the girls decided to enter the national competition and were thrilled to be successful in having their work published.

“The theme was to encourage the reader to feel emotions and to understand the author’s point of view. The girls wrote with passion and to see their work in print is a fantastic success.”

Work for publication was selected based on perception, imagination, expression, creativity and the use of language.

The anthology will be given to the British Library and other libraries.
