GCSEs: Billingshurst’s Weald School bucks national ‘squeeze on standards’

Peter Woodman congratulated all students and staff who have worked so hard to contribute to individual and school success.

He said: “Whilst so many students have achieved their personal goals there have also been some truly exceptional performances.”

Grace Wyman and Benedict Welch both achieved a fantastic 11 A*s whilst Isabelle Hollander achieved ten A*s and one A, whilst James Colvin achieved nine A*s and one A.

The headteacher continued: “It is really pleasing to see that our results have continued to improve despite the national squeeze on standards.

“Over a third of entries at GCSE were at A* or A and 92 per cent of students achieved five or more GCSEs at A* to C with 68 per cent achieving this including English and Maths.”

He added: “More students than ever have achieved their target grades so we are really pleased that achievements across the whole ability range have been maintained. We are extremely proud of the results our students have achieved. They have put themselves in an excellent position to move onto their next step in education.”
