GCSEs: Littlehampton celebrates ‘record-breaking’ results

THE Littlehampton Academy is celebrating today (Thursday, August 23) after receiving a record-breaking set of GCSE results.

Following on from the school’s impressive A-levels, announced last week, students and staff at the academy have been left “thrilled” by the equally good GCSE marks, revealed this morning.

This year has seen an eight percent rise in those earning the benchmark A* to C grades, including English and maths, up from 42 percent last year, to 50 percent this year.

And more than two thirds – 67 percent – picked up at least five A* to C grades, also.

Principle Steve Jewell said: “It’s been a fantastic start to the year for us, we’re all so thrilled.

“Firstly there’s the new building, then last week’s great A-level results and now our incredible GCSE marks.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better summer and we’re all so proud of our students.”

A full story, plus pictures, will be in next week’s Gazette (out Thursday, August 30).
