Haywards Heath school’s harvest festival collection for family crisis charity

The restrictions brought about by Covid-19 meant the usual celebrations were put on hold this year.

However, parents, children and staff at Northlands Wood Primary School were still able to organise their annual collection of food and produce to support families in need.

This year, the harvest gifts given by families were donated to Family Support Work, a charity which supports local families in crisis.

Nikki Kerr, director of fundraising and marketing, sent a letter of thanks to the school community.

She said: “We are extremely grateful to all the pupils, parents and staff at Northlands Wood Primary School for their generosity in supporting Family Support Work with harvest donations.

“This autumn and winter are going to be very hard for many local families we are supporting, and your donations will make sure that nobody will have to worry about going hungry. Thank you!”

Items donated included boxes of cereal, long-life milk, snacks, tea bags, tinned vegetables, beans, pasta, soup and pasta sauce.

Mark Sears, headteacher, said: “In spite of the difficult conditions we find ourselves in this year, we are truly grateful to our families and staff for their generous gifts which we know will really help support local families in need.”
