Littlehampton Academy elects first head boy and girl

IT WAS a proud day for two students at The Littlehampton Academy as they were elected the school’s first head boy and girl.

Year 11 pupils Mark Nicholl, 15, and Sienna Edwards, 15, are the first to take on the responsibility since the school was reopened as an academy two years ago.

They will now be the ambassadors for the school and the voice of the student body, a job which both agree is a daunting one.

Mark, of Wick, said: “It feels great to know that your fellow students support you.

“But it’s also a pretty daunting experience and we’re going to have to work extremely hard this next year.”

Fellow student Sienna, of Arundel, was aware of the significance of her appointment.

“It’s great to know that you are the first person to be elected and that our names will be on the school wall for years to come,” she said.

“It’s a real sense of responsibility.”

The pair will have a steep hill to climb, juggling their GCSE exams with their new role as the academy’s head students.

They will be responsible for airing the views and concerns of pupils, as well as hosting regular meetings with the academy’s Student Voice club.
