Littlehampton dad cooking up some funky new dishes

WHO would have thought that this man’s ingenious idea to encourage his young son to eat his fruit and veg would evolve into a global sensation?

Author Mark Northeast, pictured, certainly didn’t. But after a whirlwind three years, which has seen his Funky Lunch recipes travel across the world, he has now published his next book, crammed full of new wacky designs.

Mark, of Meadow Way, Littlehampton, this month released his second book, entitled Funky Party, which is filled with more imaginative concoctions that will get mouths watering and imaginations running wild.

From monster burgers armed with cheese teeth, pepper horns and ketchup blood, to jelly swamps and even a tomato and mozzarella caterpillar – some of the creations definitely float into the realms of the surreal, admits Mark.

“This book is pretty wacky at times. But that’s exactly what we’re looking for.

“It’s a children’s party and we wanted to help make it extra special. So some of the recipes are certainly very odd.

“It was fantastic to do the first book but then to be asked to write a second one was incredible.

“I could have never imagined that simple ideas to try and get a grumpy four-year-old to eat healthily would have become so popular. It’s been a crazy journey,” he said.

Funky Party is on sale for £7.99 at most major high street stores. Copies will soon be available here.
