St Leonards Academy confirmed the news to parents in a letter on Wednesday (November 25).

The school remains open for all other students.

St Leonards Academy had previously reported a Covid-19 case on Friday (November 20). On that occasion, students in close contact with the individual were also sent home to self isolate.

A number of other education providers in the area have reported Covid-19 cases in recent days.

Bexhill Academy closed for two days last week and will be providing a staggered reopening each week between now and Christmas.

Year 7 and 8 at Ark Alexandra have been sent home after Covid-19 cases were confirmed in both year groups. The Helenswood campus, which accommodates years 7 and 8, has been closed for a deep clean, the school said.

Bexhill College, Rye College and East Sussex College’s Hastings site have all confirmed cases within the past week.
