St Paul's Catholic College, in Burgess Hill, is launching a new course aimed at encouraging 10 ex-teachers back into the profession.

The college secured government funding to run the Back to Teach programme which is open to applicants who have been out of teaching for at least one year.

Workshops will be run by experienced returner teachers, education professionals and government representatives who have experience in supporting teachers back into the classroom, especially - but not exclusively - those who have taken a career-break to have a family.

St Paul’s teacher Katie Turner developed the programme, which she aims to roll-out country-wide.

Ms Turner said: “This is a brand new course. It’s laser-focused on achieving something vitally important: giving ex-teachers a welcome and clear pathway back into their profession.

“It will acknowledge their achievements and experience positively and aims to inspire a return to the classroom in the most flexible way possible, whether part-time, flexi-hours or contract-based.”

If you would like to apply for the course or know more about what it will offer, email [email protected] .
