Oak Grove College welcomes new head teacher

OAK Grove College has welcomed a new head teacher.

Phillip Potter has joined the staffing team from Bradfields School in Chatham, Kent, where he was the senior assistant head teacher for four years.

The school said he brings a wealth of experience and is looking forward to the challenge of working in the largest generic special school in the county.

One of the first events at the college which Phillip has presided over was the annual Beer and Music Festival in September.

His PA, Heather Jefferies, said: “This fund-raising event has become a regular in the Oak Grove College calendar, and is always well attended by staff, students, parents and members of the community.

“Local bands Raw Deal, Cadillac Robbers and the Oak Grove College school band, along with Bon Jovi tribute band, Born to be Jovi, performed to an enthusiastic crowd.

“Real ales, supported and served by CAMRA, soft drinks kindly donated and served by Tesco, and college-produced barbecue food kept everyone fed and watered, making this a truly community event.

“We’ve received very positive feedback from people who attended.”
