Poster design winners for annual Billifest

The Billifest event is organised by the Billinghurst Community Partnership and will be running on Saturday December 6.

Each year the organising committee invites the children of Billingshurst Primary School to participate in a competition to design the front of the flyer which advertises the event.

This year they again produced work of very high quality and indeed the judging was so difficult it was decided to award a joint-first prize.

The winners were Georgia Offei and Elsie Jarvis who are pictured being presented with their £10 Amazon vouchers by chairman of the Billingshurst Community Partnership Denise Campbell at a recent school assembly.

Denise said: “One of them had a lot of detail. The second one was a bold image and a simple image that had a lot of impact.

“They both put a lot of effort and thought into it. They were quite different.”

The pictures will be used on the poster and flyers which advertise the festival.

This year’s Billifest will run from 9am to 4pm and will offer a traditional family fun day with the emphasis firmly on Christmas.

There is a packed all-day programme of events planned.

By popular demand the ‘Billingshurst Butchers’ will again be providing a hog roast and there will be a full range of exhibits and entertainments for adults and children alike.

As usual, there will be the now famous ‘mega-raffle’ with more than 20 prizes ranging from hampers to restaurant vouchers and all generously donated by local retailers and businesses. The draw will take place at 3pm.

More than 25 exhibitors are expected to gather in the grand marquee in the main car park representing their various organisations and associations.

There will be a mix of businesses, churches, charities and community groups.

Residents are encouraged to drop by and support those who make such an important everyday contribution to village life.

It is promised to be a fun-packed day for all the family and organisers said even in the event of inclement weather remember ‘there is no such thing as bad weather – just the wrong clothes’.
