She said: “I am very pleased, that, despite the challenges we faced before and during the summer holidays, we opened as planned. The old hall and gym have been almost completely demolished and the new mobile classrooms are on site.

“I am extremely grateful to all of the staff who worked tirelessly during the last few weeks of the summer holidays to make sure that the school was ready to receive children. I am privileged as the head teacher to have such dedicated people working at River Beach.

“I am also grateful to the builders on site who have also worked incredibly hard to get the school ready for us.”

Mrs Grevett added that, seeing the development of the new building had convinced her that it would all be worthwhile in the end. Refurbishment of the existingt buildings such as a new classroom, group rooms, food technology room and toilets had also made a big difference.

“We are at the very beginning of what I know will be a very positive and exciting journey for River Beach Primary School, for all the children, staff, parents and the wider community.”
