Rose Green pupils rise to the top

KEEN gardeners at Rose Green Junior School have hit gold for the second year running.

The school’s garden club led by Mandy North has been awarded the top status in this year’s South East in Bloom school grounds contest.

Headteacher Linda Slinger said: “The children become excited and enthusiastic when they are working in the grounds.

“They all wanted to have their say and couldn’t get their words out fast enough when they showed the judges around.

“It’s not just about education.

“It’s about the children getting pleasure from being outdoors and finding out about their environment.”

The past year has seen the children grow tomatoes, potatoes and courgettes in the school’s grounds as well as enjoy a new hide to watch the wildlife.

Other winners around Bognor Regis were South Bersted C of E Primary School (gold), St Mary’s C of E School, Climping, (silver gilt) and Rose Green Infant School (silver).
