Salehurst Rocks
There are over 20 pupils learning the guitar at Salehurst this term. Mr Lockwood has been teaching guitar at the school for many years and it remains as popular as ever.
The children can start learning from year two and are grouped according to ability. The children begin by learning traditional songs with several chords, they then progress onto more complex chords and simple melody pieces. Many pupils have continued playing the guitar as they progress to secondary school.
Some have moved on to take their classical grade exams or become performers with electric guitars in their own rock bands! The guitar players often accompany assemblies and other musical events throughout the school year.
