Sarah Bakhtiari was appointed principal following the departure of Richard Taylor-West after five years.
Kathryn Stokes took on the role of acting headmistress before Mrs Bakhtiari took up the role last month.
Mrs Bakhtiari has strong links within the community, studying for a BA and MA at the University of Brighton before teaching locally for twenty years. She spent 17 years at the girls’ boarding school, Roedean, as a teacher, Head of Department and Head of Key Stage 3.
She joined Shoreham College from her role as Co-Principal and Director of Welfare at Bellerby’s College, Brighton.
The Governors said Mrs Bakhtiari, with her ‘wealth of pastoral and educational experience’ was the ‘perfect fit’ for the supporting and nurturing ethos of Shoreham College.
Married with three children, she loves to travel, read, walk and enjoys the theatre.
Mrs Bakhtiari said, “It is a huge privilege to be the next leader of Shoreham College.
“I am eager to become a part of the Shoreham College community, to understand what it is that people love about the school, what they find most important, and use that to further build upon its current success.”
