Steve Kaufman visits Bognor Regis school

A BOGNOR Regis school was filled with tuneful tones thanks to an American folk musician.

All the pupils at Laburnum Grove School would like to thank renowned folk guitarist and singer Steve Kaufman.

The musician performed a Bluegrass Concert for the staff and children.

Head teacher Pip Otton said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to hear a different type of music that is not played on commercial radio stations.”

Mr Kaufman performed some great songs, and all the children particularly enjoyed the Granddad song and enjoyed singing, swaying and clapping to the unusual rhythms.

After his visit the children had lots of discussions about flat picks, medium picks and plectrums and the different sounds electric and acoustic guitars can make.

Comments from pupils in Year 4 were: “Most of us hadn’t heard that type of music before and we really liked it.

“It was happy.”
