Steyning Grammar School A Level results: Students ‘have flourished’ despite pandemic

Steyning Grammar School has congratulated its students for their excellent A Level results this year.

The school said the results reflected ‘their hard work and commitment throughout their time at Steyning Grammar School’.

Co-Headteachers, Mr Kennedy and Mrs Nicol, said: ‘Despite the pandemic and the loss of face to face learning time it caused, our year 13 students have flourished; we wish them every success on the next step of their journeys into further study or the workplace.

Results in applied qualifications showed ‘phenomenal progress’ for the third consecutive year, the school said.

It congratulated both Erin Cooper and Cat Large for achieving D*D* in BTEC Diploma in Sport.

The school has also singled out the achievements of some A Level students for their impressive grades.

Oli Shephard achieved four A* grades and will be moving on to study Natural Sciences at the University of Bath.

Mide Odutola achieved A*A*AA and will be going on to study Theoretical Physics at Durham University.

Amber Wright celebrated A*A*AA grades and will progress to study Natural Science at Cambridge University.

Beth Smith, who secured A*AAA, and Tom Masters, who received A*AAA, have both secured places to study Medicine.

Shaun Coughlan achieved three A* grades and will be attending Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, to study Modern and Medieval Languages.

Many Steyning Grammar Students will be going into Degree Apprenticeships, which offer the opportunity to get hands on work experience alongside studying for a university degree.

Dom Beasley will take up a Degree Apprenticeship at Thales Software Engineering and Stephen Gearing will be progressing to an Apprenticeship at Siemens with a Business Degree.

A school spokesman said: “We are grateful to our fantastic Sixth Form teaching and pastoral teams that have supported our Year 13 students throughout their time at Steyning.
