Some 140 students were joined by their parents, teachers and governors along with mayor Chris Cheshire and Henry Smith MP at the ceremony on Thursday ((June 25).
Shouvick Ghosh, head of sixth form, was among those to applaud the individual successes of the students as well as the collective contribution they have made to the school and community.
He said: “This has been one of our outstanding cohorts and we expect to build upon our record A-level results last year. I’m very proud of each and every one of you.“
Headteacher Pauline Montalto added: “Thomas Bennett Community College is very proud of these young people. They have the confidence, aspiration and resilience to make the most of their future opportunities in education, training or employment.”
Speeches were also made by students Katherine Bennett, Liam Wootten and Georgia Casey.
Among the award winners were Martin Pretty who achieved a clean sweep of ‘A’s at AS-level last year and is predicted to do the same in this year’s A-levels.
Martin was recognised for Outstanding Academic Achievement.
Diana Dracea received an award for her dedication and commitment while Yannick Jean, who is now working as a coach with Chelsea Football Club, achieved the Vocational Student of the Year Award.
Following the ceremony students had time to say goodbye to friends and teachers at their graduation ball, which was held at Cottesmore Golf Club.
