University of Chichester to welcome students back in September – this is what will be different

The University of Chichester will welcome new freshers and returning students back this September.

Like all educational institutions, it will have to adapt to new rules around social distancing in order to keep students safe.

A spokesman said new cleaning and infection-control measures had been introduced, in order to maintain safe living and learning environments.

When it comes to learning, the spokesman said teaching was expected to remain ‘close to normal’.

However, there will be a greater focus on remote learning, alongside smaller class sizes.

The spokesman said: “With two spacious campuses, covering 69 acres in total, and a student-to-staff ratio among the top third in the UK, we are able to provide socially-distanced learning which adheres to government-approved guidelines and enables students to study with as little disruption as possible.”

The university, which would usually hold outreach sessions at schools in the area to encourage disadvantaged pupils to go into higher education, has become part of a new pioneering online scheme, which aims to continue this work remotely – read more here.
