Worthing school celebrates grandparents

Grandparents were celebrated at Chatsmore Catholic High School in Worthing with a performances and a short liturgy.

The aim was to celebrate the role older relatives and friends play in a child’s life and celebrate their contribution to the community.

Head teacher Peter Byrne said: “Parishes and schools are being encouraged to raise the profile of grandparents, or adults that play a similar role in a child’s life, and celebrate them and their their contribution to the communities in which they live, and support them in their role.”

Students invited their grandparents to attend a short liturgy, followed by a performance from the school choir, refreshments and then a tour of the school with their grandchildren.

The year-seven Cambridge choir performed One Call Away and the Oxford choir had their first full choir performance in front of an audience with I’m on Top of the World.

The performance ended with both choirs giving a rendition together of Everybody’s Singing.

Students were delighted to see all their guests smiling and joining in with the song.
