Copthorne care home opens doors for community day and barbecue

Care UK's Francis Court care home in Copthorne welcomed residents through its doors for an event to celebrate Care Home Open Day.

On June 17 it joined thousands of care homes across the UK taking part in the annual initiative aimed at challenging perceptions of care homes, connecting with their community and developing relationships across the generations.

Residents and visitors got into the party spirit with a host of activities themed around the Rio Carnival. They enjoyed a barbecue and entertainment from Fred Delias and his dog and singer, Jo York.

Mary Ann Ballesteros, home manager at Francis Court said: “Our doors are always open, but Care Home Open Day was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate with visitors, residents and colleagues alike. We all are proud of the warm and welcoming quality care environment we have created here at Francis Court, and we took great delight in showcasing our home and all the good work we do here.

“The day was a real success, and everyone enjoyed getting involved in the activities and building on our links with the local community.”
