Chichester resident Sarah Rance-Riley set up the Chichester Area Coronavirus Support Group on Sunday (March 15).

The group is intended to act as a focal point to bring together volunteers able to provide general assistance for those who are vulnerable, offering help with dog walking, shopping and other errands.

It is also sharing useful information about local services, support, and resources available.

Sarah said: “We are taking our lead from the Covid-19 Mutual Aid organisation, which is acting as the national hub for grassroots volunteers to assist vulnerable and at-risk community members during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I am currently focusing on getting the volunteer numbers up – so please feel free to join and distribute the group address to any of your local contacts.

“I feel that this group is likely to grow and develop organically and as long as we are sensible, thoughtful and calm we will be able to weather the storm along with assisting our community more broadly.”
