Coronavirus testing site opens in Worthing's Brooklands Park

A mobile coronavirus testing site has been set up at Worthing's Brooklands Park.

The Department for Health confirmed a mobile testing unit will be set up at the East Worthing attraction between September 23 and 25.

According to the department, mobile testing units travel around the UK to increase access to coronavirus testing, and respond to local need.

They are also used to test essential workers at sites such as care homes, police stations and prisons.

The infection rate in Worthing currently stands at 24 per 100,000 - higher than the national average of 17 per 100,000.

The rate has increased once again after a spike at the end of August which saw it double the national average, only to fall back to around 17 per 100,000 shortly after.
