Hastings college confirms positive coronavirus case

The college announced the news on its website, stating that it has informed all staff, students, parents and carers about a staff case of coronavirus.

A spokesperson said: "We have stringently followed government guidelines and are working closely with Public Health England to minimise the spread of the virus.

"The college remains open, and we are encouraging you to follow our safety and hygiene procedures so that we can reduce the spread of the virus."

The member of staff has been required to self-isolate and 'any potential students', who may have had 'prolonged contact' with the individual, have been informed and advised to study from home or self-Isolate, the college said.

All lessons for the affected students will be delivered online from Monday (November 23).

The spokesperson added: "I know that news of this confirmed case is concerning, but we want to reassure you that we are working closely with Public Health England to monitor the situation and take the required actions, and further reduce the opportunity of spread of COVID 19 to any others.

"The Hastings campus will remain open so that students can attend lessons.

"We are continuing to encourage students and staff to follow our safety and hygiene procedures so that we can reduce the spread of the virus."
