Increased complaints about smokey bonfires in Mid Sussex during lockdown

Mid Sussex District Council is asking people not to light bonfires during the current lockdown.

The council says it has received an increased number of complaints from residents who have been adversely affected by smoke from nearby bonfires.

“As you know, Covid-19 can causing breathing problems and these can be made much worse by smoke inhalation,” said a council spokesman.

“We’re asking people to be considerate of their neighbours at this difficult time.

“Please do not burn garden waste, or any other waste, during this lockdown period.”
