A mobile testing unit was set up in The Grange car park last month, but after a member of the public parked where the testing unit would go yesterday (Thursday, Jul 16), swathes of people were turned away.

Some faced double disappointment as another testing site in Tipner Lorry Park, Portmouth, was closed following a fatal collision on Wednesday.

Many were then sent on to get tested in Guildford, it is reported.

A spokesman for Sussex Resilience Forum apologised for the inconvenience and said the testing site would be running today (Friday, July 17).

The spokesman said: “We can confirm that due to issues at the site in Midhurst, it was impractical to set up the mobile testing unit yesterday (Thursday 16 July).

“Members of public had removed tape and parked in the area designated to be used for the mobile testing unit, and therefore this could not be set up.

“However, it will be in place today (Friday 17 July) for people to book testing. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
