A West Sussex woman has praised medical staff on the vaccine bus for doing a ‘fantastic job’.

The mobile unit, which is serving Crawley, launched on Friday and has been giving the lifesaving coronavirus vaccine to residents in the town.

Jessica Thurloway, from Crawley, received her jab on Friday, January 29.

She said: “Everyone was so nice at the bus. It was a really cool idea to have it in somewhere different. Not many people can say they have had their vaccine in a bus.”

The unit was ‘really well planned out’, according to Jessica. The bus’s doors were open to allow good airflow and a one way system reduces any infection risk.

The 26-year-old, who is currently shielding, added: “It was really good. It’s really well organised. Quick and efficient service.

“You’re in and out very quickly.”

Jessica said staff were ‘really nice, really friendly’. She added: “I must admit I was quite excited to have the vaccine.

“I have been shielding for nearly a year now. It was nice to see people. They were really happy to help. It was just nice to have people there to reassure you.”

Shielding has been immensely tough, Jessica said.

But she added: “You can’t take your life for granted. You have to make the most of what you have been given. Don’t forget to live your life.”
