‘Significant progress’ for Eastbourne’s vaccine roll out, according to NHS Trust

The NHS Trust for East Sussex has spoken positively about the vaccine roll out in Eastbourne.

As nearly half of over-50s have had both doses of the covid vaccine across the UK, according to NHS figures, the trust has said ‘the majority of the town’s most vulnerable have been vaccinated and have either received or are now receiving their second dose’.

A spokesperson for the Sussex covid vaccination programme said, “All of the vaccination teams across Eastbourne have been working extremely hard to offer the vaccine to people in the town as quickly as possible. They have collectively made significant progress.

“They have also started to offer appointments for those aged 40-49 as we move to the next phase of the programme.

“As we continue to move forward, we remained focused on ensuring that everyone who is eligible and yet to have their vaccination is able to have their jab.

“It is not too late – if you are eligible but have not had it yet, we would encourage you to please get in touch and arrange your appointment as soon as possible.”

Across Eastbourne, 70 per cent of those aged 16 and over have had one jab.

Areas with the highest coverage:

1) Old Town & Motcombe, with 76.2 per cent of people aged 16 and over given their first dose

2) Ratton, 76.1 per cent

3) Hampden Park South, 74.9 per cent

Areas with the lowest coverage:

1) Pier, 55.2 per cent

2) King Edward’s Parade, 61.3 per cent

3) Sovereign Harbour, 68 per cent
