St Dominic’s Nursing Home, in Filsham Road, confirmed the resident tested positive on September 30.

The nursing home’s operations manager said the positive test result was identified due to the government-implemented monthly testing scheme for all residents living in care services.

Dan Lipscombe added: “By following the government’s advice (local and central), having our own robust internal risk assessments and the tireless hard work and caring attitude of all the staff at St Dominic’s Nursing Home, this was identified quickly and the resident has now made a full recovery.”

Mr Lipscombe said the resident was retested this week and were found to be negative.

All residents living at St Dominic’s Nursing Home have since been tested, according to Mr Lipscombe, with no further infections identified.

He added: “This was the first and only case we have had at St Dominic’s Nursing Home.”
